Izzi, Jalan Bkt Bintang (opposite Giordano)

After visiting the PC Fair at KLCC, Jerry and I decided to go to Izzi at Jln Bkt Bintang. With Hong Leong Bank & HSBC Credit Card, you are entitled 50% discount off from the total bill (except pastry and alcoholic drinks). Besides, I have a free pizza voucher. Last day will be on 31st August 2007. So we decided to redeem it ASAP.

Charmomile tea. A cup of hot water with Lipton Tea Bag and Apple Aloe in can.

A very nice traditional herbs on the chicken wing at IZZI. This is the new way of eating chicken wing introduced by Jerry. Cheese powder and Chillies Flake

There are 3 different flavour chicken wings; Traditional, Teriyaki and BBQ. Both teriyaki and BBQ is not as nice as the traditional style.

Marinara Pizza. My favourite. Juicy and the oyster plus prawn is very fresh. I love it so much.

Restaurant 3U, Taman Tayton

Family day. My dad wanted to collect his glasses from my mum's friend's shop at Taman Tayton. My dad said 3U serve good noodles. So, while waiting for the shop to open, we have our breakfast there.

3-U Restaurant at Taman Tayton.

Prawn Wantan, RM 5 for 10 pieces. The wantan skin is so thick. Not recommended.

Prawn Mee. My father ordered Prawn Mee. Cost RM 7.80. 4 big prawns plus half piece of boiled egg. The soup is full with prawn taste. Worth to give it a try.

Ipoh Horfun with Prawn Wantan. Yoong's set. I can't remember how many pieces of prawn wantan. The soup is the same as Ipoh Hor Fun.

Ipoh Hor Fun Mee. My mum and I share this. The soup is very nice. I like the prawn. Very fresh.

BARRA Restaurant, KL Tower Park

Staff outing organized by MNZBC. Thought that it was on top of KL Tower but very disappointing. It is just at the parking area, BARRA Restaurant. Poor service because they hired lots of part time waiter & waitress. Whatever we asked, they dun know how to answer and end up, it increase the dinner cost. Suppose to be RM 60 per person with free flow of fruit juice. So we ordered different type of juice such as cranberry juice, grapefruit juice, apple juice, & kiwi juice. End up, the full time waiter sent us a bill saying that only kiwi juice is free, the rest is chargeable. Only juice cost 14 persons RM 86.00++. Luckily they sent us the bill once the juices were served. So, we still have the chance to keep on order the kiwi juice. We drank more than 2 glasses of juice on that day which taste more like sugarcane.

Appetizer. No Name salad. The pickled cucumber, cherry tomatoes, olives and feta cheese. I think they squeeze the lemon juice on it because it is very sour. I dun like it.

My Cranberry Juice. Cordial juice. Very nice and refershing especially for that night because the weather is very hot.

Sitting from the left: San San, Mona, Gan
Standing from the left: Me, Kwek and Jenny

We can choose either grill NZ Lamb or fish. The lamb taste like lamb. Hehehe..... The meat is very tender and the sauce is nice. Even I dun eat lamb, but I still give it a try. The sauce really makes the lamb very nice.

Our seafood soup. Taste like drinking ocean water. Besides salty, no other taste. Only with 2 prawns, 2 squids and few small clams. It looks like dead ocean (dead sea creature in the soup)

My main course. On top of the fried fish is a slice of butter. Melting on the fish very fast. 3 pieces of fried beancurd and pocket of vege with soy sauce. (the pocket is made of cabbage). Since the beancurd is tasteless, I pour the soy sauce from the pocket on top of the beancurd. Taste better.

My dessert. Hot fudge brownies with Kiwi slice. Very hot and nice. I like the hot fudge so much. Just ate it without the brownies.

Bakerioni Cafe, Taman Danau Desa

I received a leflet and found this place serving traditional Western food. Since they are having 50% discount, I invited Jerry to try this out. The cafe looked like a bakery shop with pie and slice cakes at the fridge. The Lady Boss is very friendly and keep on explaining to us how she cooked the soup, how to eat the grill lamb and what is inside the big sausage.
Big sausages with green salad and potatoes salad. I like the potatoes salad which come together with eggs.

Grilled lamb with mint sauce. The lady boss advice us to try the lamb without mint sauce first, and then, try another piece with mint sauce. I dun eat lamb but Jerry likes it so much. He said the meat is very tender, with mint sauce, the lamb taste so much better. The bun is very soft like freshly baked.

Sausage Toast. very crunchy and taste like having a slice of pizza.
Actually we ordered a pumpkin soup too. I loves the soup very much. Taste to good and fresh. But their significant soup is actually mushroom soup.

Haji Tapah - Artistic Mamak

Mamak stall is no longer just serving food and drinks but the way they serve the food and the variety of foods are very important. Besides, they must also provide a big screen tv to attract more customers. At Haji Tapah, Taman Lembah Maju (Corner shop lots), they even provide IDD service. I like their food because of the quality and also the sense of art. Even though the price are slighty higher than outside but you can really enjoy each of the food and drinks. That day, I ordered a roti salad with fried chicken, the way they present the food in the plate are really artistic. I remember last time I had the same dish at Taman Saga, they just cut and put it on the plate like having a piece of popiah (straight) but as per the picture that i had taken, they arrange it in a very good manner with line of sauces on top. (RM 5.00)The chicken soup is very tasty but I dun really like those vege (dun know what is the name) (RM 3.50). KY ordered Tosai Ghee, his favourite, and they served with 4 kuah. It taste really good and it is a must try food in the mamak. (price forgotten).

Roti Salad Wz Chicken. The cabbage is abit bitter. Maybe not using a fresh cabbage. It is advisable not to order with chicken but only Roti Salad and then, fried chicken (ala carte). The price is the same but the chicken portion is bigger.

Chicken Soup. I never tried chicken soup in any mamak. I think they used the same soup based for both chicken and kambing soup. Very nice.

Tosai Ghee. This is very very delicious especially when you ate it together with the orange colour kuah ( not curry but kuah that made from dried coconut).

Tarbush, Ampang Point

After shooting at Dataran De Palma, while waiting for my boyfriend to fetch me, I loitered around Ampang Point and saw a big banner with the irresistable lunch set images. I went into this Tarbush Restaurant (next to KFC), and found a place near the glass door. Sitting alone and checking out on the menu, lastly, I had chosen the set lunch of Nasi Briyani with Chicken (with chillies and sour sauce and some salad without any sauce) and it comes with a very refreshing and sour Ice Lemon Tea. The set is only RM 9.90++ and you can choose either chicken or Dory Fish. I dun like fried fish and wanted to have more traditional nasi briyani, therefore, I had chosen the chicken. The set was so cheap so I added a Caramel Cream RM 6 ++. The Caramel does not look so smooth as per the picture inside the menu but the taste is not bad.Total bill is RM 18.00++. Nice and filling lunch. Set lunch is valid from 11.30am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday only. FYI, this branch is solely owned by different bosses from the one in Jln Bkt Bintang and KLCC. Therefore, the price is cheaper compare with the other two. Nice service too but the cutlery and napkin is not so clean.

Nasi Briyani with Chillies Chicken. You must be wondering whether is the portion of the rice is big or the chicken is too small. The answer is the chicken is too small. I like the nasi briyani especially when I ate with the chillies sour sauce from the chicken. The chicken is too small and the meat is abit tasteless. Compare with what I had last time in the same restaurant but not set, the chicken is bigger and it was rendang chicken, not chillies chicken. The salad should put vinegar or lemon juice or some dressing or else, it is just an ordinary vege.

Ice Lemon Tea. Can you see some curry mark on the tissue (napkin)? I quickily change another set. The Ice Lemon Tea is very refreshing after having no water for so many hours. The taste is a bit too sour but I like it.
Caramel Cream. The picture of Caramel Cream in the menu is so smooth. Those that I had all the while from other restaurant is also very smooth but this is so rough looking. The portion is as big as my palm and the taste of caramel is nice. Not too sweet. I like it. But I will try the another pudding liked dessert such as Mango De Longan RM 5, Bakawala RM 5(if I'm not mistaken. This is a milk pudding) and also others (any fruit) de longan all RM 5

The Worst Yong Tau in Town (Taman Danau Desa)

I had never tasted such a bad Yong Tau Foo in my lifetime. This is from a restaurant next to Bon Bon Cafe at Taman Desa. Since I was with Elaine looking for the new Japanese Restaurant but couldn't found it, we saw the cloth banner hanging in front of the restaurant written there Lunch - Yong Tau Foo. So, we decided to try it out and never thought that Yong Tau Foo can be such a bad taste. When the waitress served the sweet sauce, it was with sesame and dried orange peel. Weird but maybe this is their own recipy. Then, when the yong tau foo reached our table, the soup was so little. We requested to add some more soup, but the boss came out saying that they had no extra soup. Huh.... Selling yong tau foo but no soup? Sound crazy la.Anyway, we just ordered one bowl of rice to share. The first bite of yong tau foo, what I tasted was pork meat instead of fish paste. The whole yong tau foo is pork not fish. Can imagine eating pork yong tau foo where the meat is so rough. The price per piece is RM 1. Even the famous Fai Lou Mok at Salak South Garden was selling at RM 0.80 per piece only with plenty of soup. WARNING!!! Do not get cheated by trying such a bad yong tau foo. Do not be another victim.

Food of The Day

Everybody is craving for good food instead of healthy food. Maybe it's because of the taste bud is always controlling our mind so we can't think rationally. For me, any tasty food, nice-to-look food, all kinds of food; I'll give them a try.

Have been to few states in Malaysia, I really enjoy eating in Sabah and Sarawak. Their food is more healthy that reduce my guilty and its really fresh; lots of variety from city to orang asli style. Have u ever tried Fern Fried with Sambal? Bamboo Chicken (chicken soup boiled inside a bamboo)? Crocodile Soup? etc....... (Sarawak Style). All these really widen my desire for food. At the same time, the orang asli will not simply eat. They believe if u have eaten crocodile meat, u and your generation will get hunted by crocodile forever. Becareful when u are near a river. Chinese style food in Sabah and Sarawak also a lil different from KL. They make the Char Siew Pao on the spot and steam for you (at Damai, Sabah).

Wherever I go, I will try my very best to try out all the food that I can see around.
